Sewing Circle with Special Guest Host
Come sew with us! Every other Wednesday we gather at Larga at 7pm for sewing circle. Sessions are free of charge. All materials provided or bring a project you are working on. Kids are welcome. This week, we have Esther joining to teach us to make beaded antler earrings.
Esther Baker is a Teetl’it Gwich’in artist from the NWT. now residing in the Amiskwacîwâskahikan, Edmonton area. Her multidisciplinary artisan work in beadwork, paintings and photography draws on traditional techniques, vintage materials, and Dene floral motifs while rooted in community. Her work reconnects historical practices with contemporary Indigenous art.

Goba Care invites you to a peaceful day retreat at a cozy lakefront cabin just 30 minutes from Larga Edmonton. Take a break and enjoy 9 acres of nature, yummy food, and good company.
From sewing and crafts to ice fishing and games, there is something for everyone. We’ll also have singing and music, as well as massages and facials to help you feel your best.
When: Sat, Feb 21 or Sun, Feb 22 | 10am–4pm
Cost: FREE for medical travel patients and escorts (Transport is provided - the party bus is an experience!)

End-of-Life Care Training: Fort Good Hope
If you’re interested in learning more about end-of-life care in a small community setting, join us for this free course with Indigenous death doula Diane Boots. Contact us to register.
Muttart Party
Join Goba Care for a Muttart Party to kick off the summer on June 29, 2025, from 1:30–3:30 PM at the beautiful Muttart Conservatory.
Enjoy a 1-hour guided tour and planting activity (everyone gets a plant to take home) at the indoor botanical gardens, followed by a relaxing picnic outside by the pyramids. Adults and children are welcome!
All registered children will receive a gift bag. Food and transportation are provided.

Fort Good Hope Community Cancer Care Workshop
Join us in Fort Good Hope this May for a two-day workshop dedicated to connection, healing, and community care. Together, we’ll share stories, honour traditions, and learn from incredible leaders about supporting those impacted by cancer.
This workshop help inform next steps in improving the quality of cancer care services for NWT while also equipping participants with new information and skills to improve cancer care in the community.
In additional to sharing circles, group discussions, and presentations, the workshop will feature traditional medicine making, a fur earring making activity, and a local launch of the Book of Hope.
Playoff watch party
Goba will be hosting a hockey watch SUNDAY @ 1pm at Larga come cheer with us and we will be going live to announce the deadly playoff hockey photo contest WINNERS!
Knowledge Sharing Session
The Northern Ontario Home & Community Care Network (NOHCCN) has invited Goba Care to share how we support Northern medical travel patients and their families.
The NOHCCN was established to create a unified association for Home and Community Care front-line staff in Northern Ontario, which covers the Thunder Bay, Sioux Lookout and Moose Factory zones for First Nation communities that have Home & Community Care Programs.

Celebrating our Healing - Dene Drum Dance
Goba Care is hosting this Drum Dance to celebrate and honour the strengths of our cultures and ways of healing within Northern communities. All are welcome to attend.

This Dene cultural teaching and prayer song will allow patients and healthcare partners in the Dorothy Triffo Atrium at the Cross Cancer Institute to experience the power of our drum and to hear what life is like for us coming in from the far North for cancer treatment.
Celebrating our Healing - Prayer Song for Medical Travelers
Our Dene traditional drum is very meaningful to our healing journey. This event, for medical travel patients and escorts staying at Larga, will allow guests who cannot attend the drum dance to experience healing with a drum prayer song.
