Our commitment to anti-racism and cultural safety

Goba Care exists in part because of anti-Indigenous racism within all colonial systems. Systemic anti-Indigenous racism is both an historical and a current day problem in the healthcare system that results in inequitable access to care and poor health outcomes.

One element of addressing the legacy of colonialization in the healthcare system is ensuring that northern residents, particularly Indigenous clients from remote communities, are better supported, more empowered, and able to better understand and participate in their healthcare.

It is our commitment to do our part to help eliminate anti-indigenous racism by providing clients with access to culturally safe resources and networks, and working within the healthcare system to provide education on culturally safe and relationship-based care from a northern perspective. Goba Care supports clients in raising concerns, complaints, and questions, and bridging cultural and language barriers in all interactions.

We have built a foundation for a diverse, equitable, and inclusive organization and we bring these values to our work. We seek to infuse cultural safety, Indigenous tradition, culture, and healing practices into the medical travel journey and into all aspects of our work.
